Who We are

MEPO (Medical, Education and Peace Organization) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1999 in Nepal by Dr. Mostafa Vaziri to serve the needy, offering medical and educational aid with the goal of fostering peace and harmony. Later he was joined by Allison Lide, an educator and Peace Corps volunteer working in Nepal. Since 1999 they have taken MEPO’s philosophy and down-to-earth work to various corners of the world.

MEPO has always focused on small-scale projects that provide targeted support, especially for those who tend to ‘fall through the cracks’ in society. It is supported solely through private donations.

Helping Wherever and Whenever We Could

Over the 22 years of its existence, (since 1999), besides the long-term House of Flowers and Garden of Flowers Montessori projects, MEPO has organized dozens of small-scale projects in diverse environments including Nepal, Bhutan, Sudan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Lesotho.  These projects have included community assistance (i.e. digging water wells, setting up vocational training programs and homeschools, micro-enterprise support (giving seed money for income generation), donations to individuals in need (food, money, clothes, blankets, etc.), and medical support such as transfers of patients to other countries for surgery, free health clinics, and assistance in buying medications.

These gestures were only made possible thanks to the donations of those individuals who have been providing resources due to their own desire to help. We are also indebted to those many organizations who have partnered with us over the years, including Dollar a Month Club, Nove Onlus, and Canadian Women for Women of Afghanistan. Together all of these individuals and groups have created an entire worldwide network that directly made life better for hundreds of people around the world.
