India
India is full of people in need of medical care. MEPO has focused attention in Varanasi in the slum area of Nagwa. We provided medical support to families and individuals who have needed clinical care for issues such as TB and other serious diseases, offering to help pay their medical bills, provide them with medicine and medical advice, and visit them in the hospital and liaise with their doctors.
In Dharamsala, facilitated cash support for female construction workers and poor families.
Iran
MEPO has provided support for medical patients in Iran who needed assistance paying for vital surgeries. We have also provided aid for people after two earthquakes, especially the Avaj/Qazvin earthquake in 2002, and also the massive Baluchistan flood in Jan. 2020
Lesotho
During a year of working in Lesotho in 2007, MEPO provided extra food assistance for families and patients struggling with the devastating effects of HIV/AIDs. MEPO also gave support to an orphanage caring for children who had lost their parents to AIDs.
Bhutan
Four very poor families in remote rural Bhutan received six months of dried food, such as red rice, cooking oil, dried fish, milk powder (from September 2012 to March 2013) and extra cash for the education of their eldest child. They were also provided laundry detergent, soap and shampoo.
A school in downtown Thimphu (the capital) was given funds towards its in-house food program for 40 underprivileged children at the school who cannot bring their own lunches.
Bangladesh (Health Camps)
During two short trips to Bangladesh, MEPO organized small free health camps offering to see patients in poor suburbs of Dhaka.
